How much??

Okay with the churches doing "Trunk & Treat" and all. How much candy do you buy?? Even in areas that we thought we would not get many, we got many! Now how do you gage how much to buy? and not have left overs or run out after 1 hr?

How do you mend a broken Jack-o-lantern?

A: With a pumpkin patch!

Q: Where do mummies go for a swim?

A: To the dead sea

Q: Why was the mummy so tense?

A: He was all wound up.

Five Little Pumpkin Sitting On A Gate

Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate,

The first one said,

"Oh my, it's getting late."

The second one said,"But we don't care."

The third one said,
"I see witches in the air."

The fourth one said,
"Let's run, and run, and run."

The fifth one said,
"Get ready for some fun."

Then whoosh went the wind,
and out went the lights,

And five little pumpkins rolled out of sight

We've been BOO ' ED

We were lounging around watching the game when what to our ears should we hear??? a knock, a doorbell, and another knock !? At this point I accused Jeff of locking his daughter out of the house.... but know what we found was....

I wanted to attend Homecoming at Leigha's High School... we were not allowed to go....Per Le's instructions... so we came home and counted Jeff's bullets. But Le had a good time and we did not embarrass her or even sneaked in.....

Ignorance is Botulism

I am still trying to teach myself to can. At the rate I am learning it will take me 30 years or so. Last year it was apples, this time it is pears and salsa. Maybe next year I will do 3 other items.

Okay now the dumb questions. If you know the answer, please jump in and "educate" me... Can you re-can store bought pickles? --I did learn that you can "re-use" the pickling juice from them to do cucumbers, peppers, etc.
Does anyone know of a good canning for dummies type book?

The wayward wind is a restless wind

At the Stake Center yesterday, they had a class on canning fruit and how to build a solar energy, windmill. After the class there was more than one that walked away and said...I can do this...but more so there were a few that thought bigger, less $$$ on the electric bill...yeah!

There are certain things in life...

There are certain things in life...that catch your attention, that pull at your heart, or even hit that chord that says...I know, I feel.           This is one..Lanee's Legacy
It was an eye opener that this organization supplies "Memory Boxes" to local hospitals. But what was the eye opener was that;... just to ONE hospital they supply 20 boxes a month....20
They provide these boxes to families that have experienced the loss of a baby,
inside is a camera, tissues, journal, necklace with tiny footprints, and a comforting music cd.
Saturday the 10th Jeff and I were blessed to attend one of their fundraiser breakfasts. You would have been amazed at the turn out. We all know of someone in our lives that this has affected/effected  or that this type of thought would have been or has been given to.

Sugar, Sugar, hmmm, hmmm,

Sugar anyone....Jeff called this AM and wanted me to bring him lunch, since it was a "down"day. But being friday it was a no-go, could not be there and then pick up Le at school in time. So we compromised (isn't that what you're suppose to do in marriage?). I will bring him donuts after I drop Le off at school in the am. This of course was after I HAD to get gas. Waited in line for the Dunkin Donuts, went back to get napkins and an extra sack ( I have been requested, when I bring food in to leave some at the Guard Shack). Split out the ones for the guard

Sooo... I get to the guard shack, and he proceeds to ask what took me so long???? Say What! That he is hungry I and was expected long time ago....

All right then. I sign my car in and get my permit and proceed in.....

Go to leave the donuts for Jeff in the "Beast" but manage to meet up with him give him his donuts and leave, my visit took all of  10 minutes. I then proceed to turn my permit back into the guard and he then want's to know what I was only in there for a little time....my response?? When Jeff asks for food--my purpose in life is ....GET FOOD, DELIVER FOOD, GET THANKED AND BE TOLD.. WILL SEE YOU AFTER WORK....are those the sweetest and most romantic expressions  a woman gets to hear???

We are such Nerds.

One of our favorite shows is the Big Bang Theory that airs at 8:30 AZ time.
It is such a hoot, so much that we have season 1 and 2.

Maybe it's the references to Star Trek?  We all remember how lame we are at that game..

Go Green...Yea I wish

I made a rash decision this week and that was to "find" our office. I decided to go through files, bills, advertisments etc and see if I could locate the desk but more so it was to alleviate the fire hazard that was collecting in that space off the family room.

How do you decide what you need to keep and what needs to go? What do I do with all my remodeling paint chips? Do I need so many pages that were rip out of magazines with recipes? When do you figure that you have "saved" enough craft ideas and realize that there is no way you will get all of them done before the next millienium?

I have a calling, but can't tell you until AFTER Sunday...

Pass the popcorn....

I love being back in the west....we can "go" to conference and not even leave our house....

To listen to conference and be able to "crash" on the couch is sooo much nicer than having to fuss with nylons and the temperature of the chapel (boy am I a crybaby or what.)

Prayer Stand....I'll pray for you

I guess alot of people don't know how to pray???

QUEEN CREEK, AZ -- During hard economic times some turn to God for help One Queen Creek man is doing that in an unusual way. "I was like that's crazy, nobody is going to come to a prayer stand," said Matthew Cordel As cars rush by San Tan Flat in the middle of the morning commute, you can hear Christian music by the side of the road, and even a prayer or two. "We have a home," said Cordell. He started this free prayer stand in August and since then it has been moved two times.  Now it's found a permanant spot at Ellsworth Road and Hunt Highway. People stop by to make requests for him to pray for things such as the healing of ailments and the safety of children going to college for the first time. "They pull in, I go up to the window, we can pray and they pull out," Cordell said.

I have passed him on 2 separate occasions and at 2 different locations....does that make me a heathen?..self-absorbed?...anti-sympathetic, since I did not stop?  you don't even have to get out of your car.

It's beginning to feel a lot like ........

Christmas????

nope,

but we are now under 100 degrees and am overjoyed to hit the Hot chocolate.... I have my rotating cups and my flavored Hot Chocolate,....with Hazelnut, Cinnamon, Raspberries, Mint.... Oh to sit back sipping it and relaxing....Life could only be sooo sweet... Did I tell you I love unusual mugs??? that makes it just so much wonderful.

The highlight of my life...DMV...It is what I look forward to...

Since I am a sap love my husband, I , he asked, told him I , did not want to would love to get his truck titled and registered, since the , I hate going to, highlight of my day is visiting , arguing with DMV.
Jeff's truck It still has no a/c,is such a breeze to drive, and  I have to haul my self up to get into it. I look forward to the exercise I get when I climb in and , have to jump ,out of it.
Got to do the Emissions test..., was behind an RV that could not make the turn out of the garage that was a quick , 20 minute trip in and out.

Got to the DMV office, was 6th in line for a number, was told to do the Vehicle inspection, since the truck was coming from OH. but wait where is the federal barcode? But DMV was so excited to see me, even though I had the title and it would of only taken 10 minutes to verify the vin with it, that they wanted to share me with their Greenfield office., they were afraid that I have a stolen vehicle. By this time it is 9:15 am ( I started at 7:45). There is a luxury RV and a "totaled" vehicle in front of me. that would be the 8 and 9 o'clock appointments. 3 people before me. it should be a piece of cake, walk in the park. As of 10:30 I only now have the  8, 9 and 10 o'clock appointments in front of me 2 people , and 4 after me.   The inspector is still on the 8 o'clock, he can not find the vin numbers. ?????? wanting to provide the best of service that he feels compelled to prolong his attention for each and every one of us. As of 11 I have done my tier II inspection. they only take cash, tier I is free, there goes my spending money, thank heavens I had it on me. Now I get to go inside and get the title and plates... Hot Dang. I get to wait again. As of 12 noon I have the plates. , after I fussed with them over the power of attorney Jeff signed so that I would do all this stuff, plus even though all the papers have been signed by DMV employees they act like they are forgeries. The planets are in alignment again. I can only say that I have two more dang vehicles to do and I will have to go on a drinking binge before  I get to DMV just to be mellow enough for their quick in and out lane is such an improvement over spending hours in line. ha ha not !.

In celebration out of frustration I bought my self a soda and some chocolate. I am so looking forward , do I have to do this,,, again????!!!to my next trip to see , the ding-a-lings,my buddies at DMV

Plant a garden...

I have  6 tomatoes....whooo! that is actually a start since I am the only one that eats tomaters..
My kitchen garden -it is mixed in with the rest of the houseplants.
3 peppers. I have  a tomato and pepper plant in the back yard, but the morning glory over ran it...shhhh. that plant is a no no for AZ
start of a herb garden....since my thumb is far from green I thought I would start small....a little cilantro, a little mint, a little sage. next year we will have more once I decide how to do the back yard.
